Maps of gravimetric-equivalent mass concentrations produced using a single, mean CF (correction factor) are qualitatively similar to those produced using location-specific CFs.
Correction factors are recommended for each aerosol. An average CF should be calculated from at least three samples
Both instruments have the ability to obtain real-time results in situ, an important advantage over (gravimetric) other methods, which allows for immediate detection of unexpected emissions. In addition they are relatively inexpensive, compact and portable.
To obtain accurate CNT mass measurements, a correction that considers the instrument's CNT-specific response is required.

The photometer with default factory calibration provided a reasonable estimate of respirable CNF concentrations and will likely be the instrument of choice for direct-reading monitoring of CNFs in future studies of this type.
